Memoir #8-Love

“Love needs more than six words"

I chose a photo of my grandparents for this memoir because they’re my definition of true love. This specific picture is a good one to show their love, I love this picture. It speaks volumes about them and their love for each other. To fully express what I believe love is, or to describe my grandparents love I would need far more than six words. Which is why I chose the words I did. To me, love is more than six words; it’s more than I could even begin to explain. For the font I chose red handwriting, because it’s just a stereotype of love. The fancy script and red writing, to me, just seems to fit.

Memoir #7-Siblings

“We have a love/hate relationship”

Anybody who has never been in a fight with their sibling, is a liar. I'm sure I speak for many when I say that the relationship I have with my brother is not always perfect. I love him and always will. Except sometimes he's the most annoying person in the world. I think that once you've grown up with somebody, it's hard to get along with them every second. You've seen everything this person has ever been and know almost everything they have ever done. Which at times can change your perspective on a person.
The reason I picked this picture, is because it's a photo of my brother. The memoir was made to describe the relationship he and I have. This picture shows us when we were little and getting along, which is only half the story because a lot of the time we don't get along.

Memoir #6-Friends

“True friends are hard to find”

These people are what I like to call, my best friends. I haven't known them forever and I don't know if I will know them forever. But what matters is that I know them now and for right now, I call them my true friends. They have seen every possible side of me and have supported me through all. I love them to the ends of the earth. So why I chose this photo?
Simply because it's the best photo for the memoir. The memoir is talking about true friends, and these are my true friends. To people who don't know them, the words and pictures may not fit together. But to me, they fit perfectly.

Memoir #5-Future

"See everything there is to see"

The truth is, I don't know what I want to do in the future. I actually just want to be happy. I think what will make me happy is exploring and seeing everything. Maybe not EVERYTHING, because there is a lot to see. But I want to see everything that has ever meant anything to me.
I picked this picture of the mountains because they're just one part of this extraordinary world. My family doesn't do much travelling but we have been to the mountains and they're amazing. I took this picture and thought it fit the memoir well. Some people could only dream of seeing mountains, just as I can only dream of seeing many other things.

Memoir #4-My Hero

“You'll always be my hero, Daddy”

I can genuinely say that no matter how old I get, my father will always be my hero. He's the man I have looked up to my entire life; and he means the world to me. This picture shows my dad reading my brother and I a story. It helps to show how much my dad cares about my brother and I. I feel so protected and cared for when I'm with my dad. Whether I'm cuddled in his arms or just sitting in the same room as him.
I chose the font I did, because it looks almost little kid-ish. This fits with the photo because not only am I little in the photo but I will always be daddy’s little girl.

Memoir #3-Memories

"Memories like this, don't fade away"

I honestly love this picture; it was taken on the last day of an amazing camping trip with some even more amazing people. We had such an great time and to me, this picture sums it up perfectly. It was a weekend full of friends, laughing and memories. I picked this picture because it holds so many memories. Memories of taking the picture, of that weekend, of summer, and just of my friends.
I chose the font because it was easy to read, yet fun. I don't know why, but it seemed to kind of fit with the picture. I placed the words above our heads to symbolism that they will always be with us, hanging over our heads. No matter where we go, we’ll always have the memories. They will never fade away.

Memoir #2-Growing Up

“No choice, but to grow up”

When you're little, you want nothing more than to grow up and become a 'big kid'. Once you finally do, you wish you could just be a little kid again. Sadly, you have no choice. Everybody has to grow up. The picture I used is a photo taken of me when I was little and didn't have a care in the world. I chose it because everybody can see, that I have grown up. This old picture is a good reminder that I was little once, and that growing up didn't happen over night.
I added a filter to make the photo look almost fuzzy. I used this because it makes the picture look older and adds to the idea of things getting fuzzy over time. As you grow up, you don't always remember everything that has happened. Things get blurry as time goes on.

Memoir #1-Life

“Sometimes, you just have to jump”

I’m using this memoir and photo as a metaphor to life. Or how I believe life should be lived. Sometimes you just have to jump. Life is like jumping into a pool. Sometimes when you jump, it’s shallow and you end up and getting hurt. But sometimes it’s deep and you take this leap of faith. An amazing jump into the deep waters of life. That’s what life is. Taking that jump, not knowing what the outcome will be. I picked this picture because it shows us jumping into a pool. I chose this font because it shows up good against the water. It’s also a simple font because the concept I’m trying to get across is simple. Jump into Life. The only editing technique I used on this photo was brightening it a bit. It was taken on a nice, bright summer day. So I felt it only fit to show that in the picture. I placed the words in the water to make it look like we're jumping into them.

Reading Survey

The best book I ever read was ___ because ___.

I've read a lot of books I could say were very good. As for my favourites I would have to say anything done by Rick Riordan. He writes about mythology which is something I've always had an interest in. I find him very easy to read because he takes mythology (a fairly complex topic) and makes it almost simple. He adds facts to an entertaining story. I love the characters he creates and the way he words certain things. Another one of my favourites is Anna and the French Kiss. I like this book for a few reasons, one simply being that it's light hearted and easy to read. It's a book about a teenage girl dealing with typical teenage girl dramas. For me it was easy to relate too and just over-all entertaining.

What kinds of books do you like to read? Why do you enjoy them?

The books I really enjoy reading are very simple girly novels. I like reading about teenagers and high school dramas, stuff that isn't so serious and ore just fun and enjoyable. I hate when I don't understand something that I'm reading and when I read chick-lit I never have that problem. For me a lot of it is also east to relate too because they talk about issues that affect me. I also find a lot of them funny, which makes them so much easier to read.

Have you ever re-read a book? Which book and why?

I can honestly say most books I read, I end up re-reading. Some examples are Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Outsiders, Perks of Being a Wallflower and many Ricks Riordan books. Mostly I re-read them because I want to. I need something to read and these books were very entertaining. I found them to be page turners, so why not read them again? With the book the Hunger Games I re-read it to catch any details I may have missed the first time. I re-read Perks of Being a Wallflower because I didn't get it. I understood the story, and what happens in it I just didn't understand the entertainment everybody else found in it. I read it again to get a different view on it. To try and interpret it differently, but still I didn't understand it like everybody else seemed to.

I own an iPhone, that has internet access and I regularly bring it to class. I also have a laptop that I could bring to class if need be, but I would prefer not to. I don't ever e-read but I have an app on my phone called Goodreads that I can e-read on. I'm pretty sure the books need to be already on Goodreads in e-book form to be able to read them. I'm not sure if you can download other ones. I rarely use it anyway. I also have a twitter account, that I've only ever used for personal purposes and now, of course I have this blog.
