Weekly 'If' Question

If you had to describe your worst experience with blood, what would you say?
(Question taken from 'If x2' by Evelyn McFarlane & James Saywell)

My worst experience with blood isn't exactly gross; it won't make you cringe or say 'ew'. It might make you laugh a bit though. So here is goes, first, I should mention my strange fear of veins and blood tests. I'm okay with cuts and gore, it doesn't scare me or gross me out. Veins, arteries and any needle that gets put in a vein or artery however does gross me out. I don't know why but internal things freak me out, blood outside the body is fine. Blood inside the body is not.

Okay, so. It was my first time ever getting a blood test, and of course it was also my first time ever going to the doctor alone. I went down too the blood lab, took a number and waited till they called my name. Naturally I was kind of shaky and nervous, this is one of my biggest fears after all. So when they called me, I walked up, I sat down and I shut my eyes really tight. However when I opened my eyes and saw the needle in my arm; I passed out..... YEP.

I was that person who passed out while getting blood taken, embarrassing hey? So, that would be my worst experience with blood.

Henry's iPhone

HeartRate: This is an app Henry could use to measure his heart rate while running. Running is a very important tool Henry uses in his life. This app can further assist him with it.

BookWorm: Henry can use this app to store all his favorite books and read them anytime, anywhere. Reading is important because it's something Henry loves to do

E-book: This would be a similar app to 'BookWorm' only he could access any book. This would also help him as a librarian.

FindMyPhone: I would guess that time travel would cause Henry to lose his phone a lot. This app would be able to find it no matter where it is.

Time&Date: This app would be able to tell Henry the exact time and date no matter where he is. Past, present or future.

Paint: This is the kind of app Henry would download for Clare. Clare loves to paint and so, this would remind him of her.

Fitness: Another app designed to help Henry from traveling. This would help to boost his daily fitness routine.

Cooking: Henry loves to cook, so this app could be where he keeps all his favorite recipes and where he finds new ones.

80'sMusic: An app just for the music Henry loves! He could play the classic 80's music he loves to listen to anytime This app would also allow him to share his music with anybody he wants too.

TimeFlys: This app is specifically designed to help Henry on long car rides He hates car rides and so this app would help him to pass the time. It could do anything he wanted it to whether you want to play games, do a puzzle or watch a movie.

Quickwrite- 1cent/calorie

People are cheap. The reason people buy Mcdonalds is because it's cheap. This would totally improve peoples eating habits because people aren't going to want to pay more money to eat unheathly. Part of the problem with eating habits today is that good food is expensive and bad food is cheap. So what if it was the opposite? I know that if I were being charged $15 to eat at Mcdonalds and $3 to eat something healthy; I would 100% eat healthy. I'm sure most people agree to, 1cent/1calorie would add up pretty quickly too. 500 calories for $5, is something that you are probably paying aboout $2 for right now. So, yes I 100% believe this would improve eating habits of people.

Quickwrite- Robot

If I had a robot that could do anything for me, I think I would want him to do all the basic 'servant' type things. I'd want something that could do my laundry, clean my room and of course make and bring me food. I think I would want it to look like a normal person, maybe with robot features but more or less like a human. If it could talk, I'd have to be able to get along with him; I wouldn't want something I can get into arguments with. My robot would pretty much be my house maid, and it would be a good cook, because I'm a bad one.

Weekly 'If' Question

If you had to eliminate one emotion from your life, which would it be?
(Question taken from If x2 by Evelyn McFarlane & James Saywell)

If I had to take away one emotion from my life, I think I would chose to get rid of regret. Whether it's regretting not doing something, or regretting doing something; it's a terrible thing to feel. If you could eliminate that 'what if' feeling, wouldn't you? No matter what you do, you would never wonder if you should or shouldn't have done something. You could live your life not dwelling on the past, not thinking about that opportunity you passed up. In so many ways it would make your lifestyle better, the past is the past and regret is a big part of why people can't move on from it.

Although, it would have a negative side. It may mess with your moral compass a little, if you did something to hurt somebody and you didn't feel regret about it? You didn't regret hurting a person.. that would be a negative side. However, every emotion you pick will have its negative side so my answer would have to be regret.

Memoir De-brief

What did I learn about storytelling?

I learned how much a photo can truly help to tell a story. The pictures help tell the story of the memoirs because its hard to describe a main idea in six words. The pictures help to show what you're talking about, or what your memoir is about. I know, that many of mine could have many meanings but the picture shows who or what it was directed too.

Where did I show my knowledge about using storytelling skills?

I showed my knowledge of story telling by carefully selecting the words I did. You needed to be able to tell a story in six words, so the words you use are very important. My words were all selected so they could perfectly convey the message I was trying to convey. I used the words I did because they told the story I was trying to tell, if I had picked a different word or order of words it could have confused the story. When you have a limited number of words, the few you do pick need to be just right.

What did I learn as a reader, writer, thinker, storyteller?

I learned that six words actually could tell a story, six words is barely a sentence! When looking at other peoples memoirs you see the match up of the photo and the words and you know what they're talking about. I honestly had no idea how much six words and a picture really said. I also learned that punctuation actually does add emotion to something you're reading. It creates the proper pauses and helps to emphasize what is being expressed.
